Wow. I haven't updated in 3 weeks. It's been a great month, though. I started a new medicine on the 5th. Not only can I not have caffeine on this medication, but it makes Mountain Dew taste like battery acid. So, I had my last soda on the 5th (and no coffee since then, either). I have switched to plain water and Special K2O Protein Water in Mixed Berry. I feel so much better.
I've also been eating a lot of salads. I cut out the gallons of Ranch I used to eat, and have gone back to eating Fat Free Italian. Not only is it way lower in calories, but you need less dressing to flavor your salad. Ranch is about 5 times the calories, and you need to slather it on to make it taste good. Instead of having something sweet as a treat, once a week I will treat myself to an Applebee's salad with Ranch. Most fitness and nutrition experts say you should treat yourself once in a while, so Ranch on a salad is my treat!
I have gone from 139 pounds to 128 in the last 3 weeks. I'm back in the 120s! My measurements are now 35, 26, 36. I do some sit-ups, crunches, and other toning exercises at home (about 30 - 45 minutes per day), but haven't been to the gym since the 4th. I had my physical fitness test on the 13th, and blew it away. In the last 3 months, I cut 2 minutes off my run time. I maxed the crunches, and did great on my push-ups. It was awesome.
We went home to Indiana for Spring Break, and I spent the week on my horse. I took time out for toning exercises, and I jogged the mile to the cemetery and back each day.
I tried on my 'skinny' and 'cute' clothes on Friday. I'm back in a size 6! I feel so awesome and hopeful.
Things should be slowing down around here, so I plan to update more often. I want to continue to shave time off my run, and lose the last few pounds, and really concentrate on toning up my muscles even more. I feel better than I have in a couple of years.

Fitness Challenge. Day Four.
Sunday was okay - I went over on calories, but went to the gym. Monday was not so good. Over on calories again, no workout. Yesterday was AWESOME! My goal is 1061 NET calories per day. I spent an hour and a half at the gym with the kids yesterday. 30 minutes on the elliptical, 25 minutes jogging, and 35 minutes walking. My net calories for yesterday came to 543! I only took in 543 calories yesterday, and I slipped and had two Mountain Dews. I have been loading up on water, though.
Today I'm a bit over already (stupid KFC and their $1.99 specials on Wednesday), but I'm going to the gym tonight. When I started the month, my workout schedule was this:
Tuesday, Thursday - go to gym at 4pm with the kids for an hour.
Sunday - go to gym with kids at 2pm for an hour.
I have changed my workout schedule, to fit in with my class schedule:
Monday - 7:15pm (after class) - 30 minutes
Tuesday - 4pm - 1 hour with kids
Wednesday - 7:15pm (after class) - 30 minutes
Thursday - 4pm - 1 hour with kids
Friday - 1pm (after class) - 1 hour
Saturday or Sunday - 2pm - 1 hour with kids
I also got the class schedule, and may throw in an 11:30 Step or Kickboxing class on Tuesdays and Thursdays. I am SO fired up and motivated.
I was worried about going home for Spring Break - what am I going to do? Our gym here is on base, and is free of charge to us. Then I remembered that I have a friend in my hometown (she's also in my old military unit that I just left) who OWNS the biggest and best fitness center in the area, and she charges $5 for a single workout. So, I'll go in a couple times that week and workout. I'll also take one of my Denise Austin books and a DVD so I can work out and stay motivated while at my parents' house.
I've also been watching lots of great motivational shows to keep me on the right track, like Bulging Brides and The Biggest Loser. I see others get in shape, and I want to do it, too! Just have to keep my mind in the right place!

March 1
Maggie is back on track! I have gotten lazy the last few years. I'm not badly out-of-shape, but I'm not in bootcamp form, either, so I am going to fix it. Each day I will hold myself accountable in this blog. I plan to meet my goals by my birthday in a couple months.
Current stats:
Height 5'9
Weight 139.4 (it's just a number, folks - muscle weighs more than fat)
Clothing size 8
Measurements 35 - 28 - 38 (Ick)
My main goal is to kick that Mountain Dew can out of my life for good! Here goes!
